Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Has a Date, and Plenty Still Unknown

The November 14, 2025 launch and broad platform list are confirmed, but editions, pricing, performance, and several features still need official answers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has a date. It launches November 14, 2025, and the platform list is long. Nearly everything below comes from publisher announcement coverage and a trade write-up, all dated around the August 2025 reveal. Treat feature claims as promises, not tested facts.

The launch date and where the game lands

The date comes from Xbox Wire's reveal post, published August 19, 2025. The game was shown at gamescom Opening Night Live 2025. Treyarch and Raven Software are the developers. The sources I have are promotional, and I found no independent hands-on testing in them.

The confirmed platforms are Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox on PC, Battle.net, and Steam. Xbox Play Anywhere support is also listed. That is a wide net for a single launch day.

Cloud availability is announced too, along with day-one access through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. If you subscribe on an eligible platform, you can play at launch without buying. If you do not subscribe, you are looking at a standard purchase.

The material does not say whether the game comes to Nintendo Switch or mobile. Do not assume either. If you play there, wait for a clear statement from the publisher.

Editions, pricing, and buying by platform

Activision's editions page describes cross-gen options for consoles. The text I have does not list prices or what each tier contains. Any cost comparison right now would be a guess, and I would rather not guess with your money.

Start with your hardware. On PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, you are the most likely buyer of a current-gen edition. On PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, the cross-gen options are the ones to read closely. On PC, you pick a storefront: Steam, Battle.net, or Xbox on PC. Each one ties your purchase to a different account.

If you already pay for Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, the day-one access changes the math. You may not need to buy at all. That is worth weighing against any premium edition extras, once those extras are actually listed.

Whether cross-gen play connects current and previous hardware is a separate question. The sources raise the cross-gen editions but do not answer it. Check the official store pages before you pay.

Campaign, co-op, and the 2035 setting

The story is set in 2035. It follows Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, and Raul Menendez returns as the villain. That is a big callback for longtime fans.

David "Section" Mason leads a JSOC team investigating a weapon that weaponizes fear. During missions, the team's grip on reality breaks down. The Guild, a global tech company, is cast as humanity's protector, and it clashes with Mason's crew.

You can play the campaign solo or in co-op. The sources differ on numbers. One says up to three other players, another says up to four players. My inference is that both describe a squad of four in total, but the sources do not spell that out.

The campaign also adds global progression, a first for the franchise, plus a late-game mode named Endgame. Both are announced features. Neither has been tested by outsiders in anything I can cite.

Multiplayer, Skirmish, and a checklist before you buy

Multiplayer keeps Omnimovement from Black Ops 6, with tweaks. A new mode called Skirmish is the headline addition, but the text gives no rules for it. Zombies is back too, and the coverage mentions near-future tech and weapons that suit the 2035 setting. Deeper Zombies details are not covered.

IGN reports that open beta dates are confirmed. The dates themselves are not in the material I have, so look them up directly. A beta is the best chance to test performance on your own machine before spending anything.

Here is what to verify before you commit:

  • PS5 and Xbox Series X|S performance and system requirements
  • Whether cross-progression works across every listed platform
  • Edition prices and contents
  • Which storefront you want your PC copy tied to
  • Whether your Game Pass tier covers day-one access on your platform

That is a lot of blanks for a game with a firm date. The publisher may fill them in before launch, but nothing in the sources I have promises it. Until then, the date is the only hard fact.
